How to Get There?

The downside is that at the moment is it isn’t the easiest place in the World to get to, the good news is, it's getting easier every year.

All inbound routes via the USA require an overnight stopover in the USA, Atlanta, Miami or Houston are the simplest. That is, if you can cope with US homeland security’s long winded procedures. (The ESTA Channel is a big improvement for British Passport Holders).
Having tried 8 different routes, via Cancun in North West Mexico, which was always the cheapest – seems to be favourite, particularly if combined with a one or two night stopover in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Flights from Europe via Canada or Panama direct to Belize City can also be viable options.

The daily TROPIC AIR service between Cancun and Belize City at 14-00hrs connects well with most incoming north American flights, Only the late flight on FRIDAY at 19-55 connects with incoming European flights.

Tropic Air flights arrive and depart in Cancun at the FBO Building and not the main terminals. There is a free Shuttle Bus Service between terminals. Tropic Air North Bound flights arrive too late for connections for several USA flights, but times are good for European connections

Alternatively, there is an overnight deluxe coach service to Belize city from the central bus terminal.
If you take the coach to Belize, keep your boarding pass handy, producing it at the Mexican-Belize border can reduce the departure tax. (in transit, you may have to argue). There is a regular bus / shuttle service from the airport to the bus / coach terminal.

Arrival in Belize city on the Evening flight is too late for ongoing flights so a night in Belize City is required.
Tropic Air North bound flights are now too late for many connections in Cancun. Tropic Airs’ internal service is excellent and highly recommended, 10-12 seat Cessna Caravans ply between various islands and most towns.

For a three week visit TUI GROUP flights to Cancun from Birmingham, Manchester and Gatwick can be good, though the draconian luggage rules are irritating, (and expensive). Bookings can be made on the internet. Prices vary enormously, so if possible, look at alternative dates.
